Carol Cohen

Senior Medical Writer

Carol Cohen is a Senior Medical Writer for Premier Applied Research®. As a Medical Communication Specialist, she assists with all aspects of publication support including writing and editing of abstracts, posters and manuscripts and coordinating all aspects of publication submissions, including reconciling co-author comments and responding to reviewer comments. She provides medical writing expertise for publications in a large number of therapeutic areas and for a wide array of study types such as health economics outcomes research, clinical trials, resource analysis, cost analysis, cost effectiveness, comparative effectiveness, burden of illness, safety, quality improvement and market analysis. Cohen has more than 30 years of preclinical and clinical research experience, beginning her career as a Research Specialist at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Upon moving to Temple University School of Medicine, Cohen was appointed Director of Cardiac and Thoracic Research and Research Instructor of Surgery. In these roles she directed and supervised laboratory research and participated in clinical drug and device trials (Phase II-IV).  She subsequently assumed the positions of Research Director for the Department of Surgery and Education Coordinator for the Surgical Residency Program where she instructed undergraduate, graduate, medical students, nurses and residents in laboratory techniques, research methods and scientific writing. She also implemented and directed all educational conferences for the Department of Surgery and maintained and insured educational requirements for compliance with the Residency Review Committee. She has authored numerous abstracts, manuscripts, review articles and book chapters in the fields of blood-surface interactions and cardiothoracic, vascular, trauma critical care and gastrointestinal surgeries. Cohen also provided adjunct clinical laboratory support to a Fertility Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her past medical writing experience was primarily for pharmaceutical and device industries on a variety of clinical topics, including Crohn’s Disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, abdominal aneurysm repair, opioid utilization, community-acquired bacterial pneumonia, atrial fibrillation, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, wound healing, respiratory distress syndrome, hospital-acquired postoperative infections and oncology treatments. Cohen holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Temple University.
