Bianca Briola

Bianca Briola is the Vice President of Premier’s Enterprise Value Optimization service line where she works with leadership teams to transform their organizations. She is an expert at devising strategies for organizations to reduce expenses, uncover new revenue streams and lead successful margin improvement programs while improving the quality of care and patient experience.

Briola headed up the development of a new service offering from conception to go-to-market while also overseeing delivery. She facilitated the development of well-paced, multi-workstream strategic roadmaps for organizations to improve margins and change cost structures to better prepare for new payment models.

Her experience has included leading a team charged with $117 million in financial benefit for an eight-hospital health system and large medical group, during which the delivery team improved patient access to physician practices and reduced supply pricing and utilization, workforce expense, and variation in care.

Briola’s experience has also included leading a transformation team to develop a strategic, multi-year improvement roadmap that resulted in an improvement agenda of over $45 million. She has also managed workforce improvement efforts to reduce cost as Baldrige and Magnet designations were pursued during a period of rapid campus growth during which the team implemented $6.5 million of best practice recommendations to reach improved operational efficiency.

Briola received her master’s in public health from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s from Duke University. She also received a Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean training from North Carolina State University.  




Chris Smedley

Summary

Chris Smedley is the Vice President of Engagement and Delivery overseeing Premier’s Physician Enterprise Solution with more than 20 years working in healthcare. His experience includes administering practice plan operations, as well as overseeing the delivery of comprehensive engagements at academic medical centers and health systems throughout the United States. He has specialized expertise in the areas of physician solutions, children’s hospitals and cancer centers.

Throughout his career, Smedley has worked with over 40 healthcare organizations to improve the delivery of care and patient outcomes. In doing so, he has developed extensive expertise with respect to addressing the change management aspects within physician organizations. He brings a unique focus that enables the achievement of targeted performance improvement outcomes, while enhancing the engagement and satisfaction of patients, providers and staff.

Prior to joining Premier, Smedley served as a Managing Director within Huron Consulting Group where he helped to develop one of the largest dedicated physician solutions teams in the U.S. Before joining Huron, Smedley was a member of Accenture’s healthcare consulting practice where he was responsible for overseeing the associated physician services engagements. His industry experience includes serving as the Executive Administrator for the Cancer Service Line at UPMC and Finance Director and Administrator for the Department of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Smedley holds a master’s in public management from Carnegie Mellon and a bachelor’s degree in health management systems from Duquesne University.

Bill Marquardt

Bill Marquardt is Vice President and General Manager of Premier’s Cost Management technology group.    In this role, Bill works closely with stakeholders to design and implement technology solutions that meet emerging business challenges.  Marquardt has over 20 years working with providers and suppliers on numerous supply chain, finance, eCommerce and business transformation initiatives. He is responsible for the strategic direction of Premier’s Cost Management technology, which includes an ERP, Financial Decision Support system, as well as Supply Chain and Labor analytics.  His experience includes consulting, systems implementation, product management, sourcing and contracting. 

Prior to joining Premier, Marquardt worked for Roche Biomedical Laboratories (now LabCorp) in a customer service and information technology role. 

Marquardt received his bachelor’s degree from Davidson College.

Larry Bramble

Larry Bramble is the Vice President of Supply Chain Strategy and Delivery with more than 27 years of diversified supply chain operations experience across multiple industrial sectors and business consulting segments. Bramble provides strategy architecture, service development and delivery leadership focused on transforming healthcare systems, integrated delivery networks and hospital supply chain operations into vital, collaborative and strategic operations. 

Relevant Experience
Bramble’s supply chain credentials incorporate business, program and project leadership not only focused on transforming operational performance across all functional areas of the supply chain continuum, but also on implementing sustainable cost reduction initiatives across an extensive number of healthcare organizations across the nation.

Over the past several years, Bramble has supported several health systems in driving down labor, non-labor and services costs ($80 million to 90 million in savings) while also improving operational performance and supply chain integration with clinicians, clinical requirements and outcomes.

Bramble has directed multiple healthcare organizations on their journey of supply chain transformation and the development of short- and long-term strategic operational plans, with a particular focus on clearly defined roles and expectations, efficient value stream maps and process flows, supportive technology infrastructure and requirements, streamlined data management and analytics, and performance management metrics.

Bramble’s areas of expertise also include:
• Business transformation, performance management, and business process outsourcing
• 6-Sigma (DMAIC), Lean, and Kaizen process improvement
• Procurement and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) program development and implementation

Bramble has authored multiple articles associated with the transformation of supply chain operations, including supply chain best practices, item master optimization and efficient strategic sourcing. He has also spoken at the Association for Healthcare Resources & Materials Management (AHRMM) and IDN Summit national conferences on the topic of transforming supply chain operations.

Education
Bramble received his Bachelor of Science degree in industrial management from Purdue University and a master’s degree in business administration from Xavier University. Bramble is a member of the following institutions: Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM), Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), APICS – The Association for Operations Management, and Institute of Supply Management (ISM).

Dan Carcioppolo

Daniel Carcioppolo has 18 years of healthcare experience, both clinically and administratively. He is National Director, Labor Solutions at Premier where he serves as a subject matter expert, focusing on labor productivity and benchmarking solutions.  

Prior to joining Premier, Carcioppolo worked as a consultant for hospitals and healthcare organizations at Plante Moran, PLLC. He entered consulting in order to gain a more global view of healthcare and understand the industry by engaging with a wide array of hospital and healthcare system clients. Carcioppolo was the lead consultant on all labor productivity and benchmarking work, managing engagements ranging from $50,000 to $1.5 million and helping clients identify their opportunity to reduce labor costs. He also led the process improvement work, helping clients act on the opportunity that was a result of the labor productivity work.  

Prior to consulting, Carcioppolo worked in hospital administration as financial/operational director of perioperative services and also in an intraoperative environment as a healthcare technician for six years while completing his bachelor’s degree.  

Carcioppolo holds an MBA with a focus on healthcare and a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration.

Andy Cole

Andy Cole is a National Director for Cost Management Solutions, specifically focusing ERP and Supply Chain technologies. In his role, Andy serves as a Subject Matter Expert on these solutions and supports Premier’s Sales and Field Teams to demonstrate functionality and value delivery to Members. Andy joined Premier in 2015 after a consulting role at Community Hospital Advisors and multiple Sales and Implementation roles at McKesson. A North Carolina native, Andy holds a BA from UNC, and a Master of Healthcare Administration from UNCC.

Tim Berkey

Timothy Berkey is a Vice President within the Premier Performance Partner division with more than 26 years of consulting experience. He serves as the engagement executive for large supply chain engagements. In this capacity, he has supported engagements of up to $50 million in annual non-labor and clinical resource utilization savings. Berkey also provides strategic guidance to Premier’s project leaders and client executives to facilitate expense reduction.

During his tenure with Premier, Berkey has served as the manager of Premier’s former process benchmarking unit, facilitator of multi-hospital “collaboratives” and as a project consultant for hospital-specific labor productivity comparative analyses. He has significant experience in the use of Premier’s supply chain, clinical cost and resource consumption, and labor productivity comparative databases. 

Berkey received his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from North Carolina State University. He is also a member of the Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management (AHRMM). Berkey is a published author who speaks regularly to numerous regional professional groups and at national conferences.

Kearin Schulte

Kearin Schulte is a Vice President with Premier’s Physician Enterprise Advisory Services. She has extensive operational and consulting experience in all aspects of the physician enterprise and has leveraged her industry experience to bring real-world experience to her consulting engagements. During her consulting career, Schulte has delivered large integrated consulting engagements across the United States in community systems, academic health systems and standalone specialty hospitals.

Prior to joining Premier, Schulte served as a Senior Director at Huron Consulting Group, where she helped to drive sales and delivery with the largest dedicated physician solutions team in the U.S. Her industry experience includes serving as an interim executive, leadership roles at medical groups, as well as leadership roles in both the neuroscience and obstetrics/gynecology service lines at the University of Colorado Health System. She also serves as an affiliate professor at a private university in Denver, Colorado, where she teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs for those pursuing degrees in healthcare administration and healthcare leadership.

Pam Daigle

Pam Daigle is the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing with more than 25 years of experience in supply chain and surgical services. She is responsible for the ongoing growth of all medical/surgical areas of the GPO portfolio, including surgical services, nursing, pediatrics, continuum of care and cardiovascular services.

Prior to joining Premier, Daigle was the Administrative Director of Surgical Services for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for six years with corporate responsibility for surgical services areas, including the operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, same-day surgery, anesthesia, sterile processing, GI lab and special procedures.

Daigle obtained her B.S. in business administration from Western Governors University. She is also an active member of AHRMM, HFMA, NAPW and Professional Women in Healthcare.
